Use Case Template

Introduction

The hallmark of an exceptional product designer is the ability to generate clear, concise, and actionable requirements that preferably result in revenue for a business.

For the last six years, I've relied upon this template found in this little gem of a book: Write a Use Case: Gathering Requirements that Users Understand.

See the use case template below.

To discover alternative scenarios, ask:

  • Where do options appear?
  • What odd cases crop up?
  • What are the variations on the basic scenario?
  • What can go wrong?
  • What might not happen?
  • What kind of resources can be blocked?
